John (Jack) Merrill Gray, III is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. Jack earned his B.A. from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia graduating cum laude. After college, Jack spent three years as a high school teacher in the Atlanta Public Schools through Teach for America. Jack received his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2013 graduating cum laude. He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 2013. While in law school, Jack was a Senior Associate Editor of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, for which he authored a published article on refining the standard for alleging fraudulent joinder in the federal courts. He competed nationally as a member of Cumberland’s national moot court team, and was a member of the Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board.
